The Constitution Pipeline was given the green light by federal regulators this past summer to take a baby step toward beginning work on the 125-mile natural transmission project, with approval granted for it to begin mobilizing necessary equipment.

The urgent need to facilitate additional natural gas pipeline infrastructure has been well-documented throughout New York and New England, and cannot be overstated. Due to New York’s significant involvement in the regional markets, New York consumers are exposed to price volatility caused by a constrained gas market and regional distribution constraints.

According to the Times Union in a letter to the editor, President and CEO of the Business Council of NY State Heather C. Briccetti said, "New York needs the energy, jobs and tax revenue from the pipeline. The project will directly support more than 1,300 jobs and generate more than $130 million in labor income for the region.
