Laborers Support Community VFW
Representatives from NYSLOF were present in support of a special charity event in Flushing this winter.
Laborers Local 1010 teamed up with contractors C.A.C. Industries and the Greater Contractors Association to beautify the lot for Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW) Post 3427 in Queensboro Hill.
“It was a great joint effort for a very worthy cause,” said Local Union 1010 Business Manager Keith Loscalzo. “As a union, we just feel it’s our duty to not just help our members, but anybody in need. Especially veterans, I can’t think of a more worthy charity.”
District 20 Council Member Peter Koo was also present in support of the special event. As a local businessman and community activist, he has tirelessly fought for the needs of the residents who live in his home community and has become one of Flushing’s most active community leaders.
The Laborers look forward to collaborating with Council Member Koo on future community events, specifically geared towards union education of Asian-American workers and the support of legislation aimed at holding city agencies and employers accountable for worker health and safety.
The event was covered by the Queens Examiner.
